GRADUATE PROGRAM IN HUNGARIAN STUDIES
 
This Master’s program is offered for those who wish to become professional representatives of Hungarian culture for foreigners either in Hungary or abroad. The program focuses on the language, the history and the various cultural fields of Hungary in a European context. Of particular focus is the methodology required to make this accessible to non-Hungarians.
We offer two specializations: Hungarian as a foreign language and history.
 
Strengths of the program:
This Master's program is fully integrated with the Hungarian Studies special (study abroad) programs for international students (established in 1971). This means that international students and Hungarian students attend the same classes and often work together, thus providing a natural and inspiring environment for experiencing this field.

Language of the program: Hungarian as a foreign language specialization - English and Hungarian; History specialization - English.
Start date of the program: September or February every year
Application requirements:
  • at least higher intermediate English language competence and advanced Hungarian for Hungarian as a foreign language specialization.

  • a BA degree in one of the following: history, Hungarian language and literature, ethnography, English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Oriental languages, philology, aesthetics, art history, communication and media, film theory, film history specialization, international studies, politology, cultural anthropology

  • applicants must have 12 credits in Hungarian language/literature/history.

Tuition fee/semester see: felvi.hu (in the academic year 2016/2017 HUF 300,000)
You can apply for a very popular scholarship, called Stipendium Hungaricum, covering all your costs during your MA studies. The deadline is usually the beginning of March. (in 2017 March5 th)
 
Career opportunities:
The diploma qualifies graduates to teach and research Hungarian Studies in interdisciplinary and intercultural contexts. Cultural institutions, Hungarian embassies, Hungarian cultural institutes abroad, or university departments of Hungarian outside Hungary are some of the potential places of employment.
 
 
 
 
 
 
Degree requirements: successful completion of four semesters of courses, MA thesis, defence of thesis as part of the graduation exam.
